Aurora "Rory" Fairchild Edit

  • Action Girl: Rory is one of the female badasses who are tough and kicks butt. She is a great fighter and can hold her own pretty well. Her and her siblings: Jace, Alec and Izzy are an effective fighting team. Rory faces dangerous foes and deadly obstacles although sometimes she doesn't win.
  • Angelic Beauty: unlike Isabelle's "Hot badass sexy" Aurora's beauty is literally heavenly. Aurora may not like wearing too revealing clothing but her beauty is so angelic that it matches her personality and Jace wanted that so he went for her.
  • Female Badass: Aurora possesses great prowess in physical fighting, bravery, durability, and just mere coolness. In the simplest of words Rory's a badass.
  • Betty and Veronica: In the first two seasons, she's caught in a love triangle between her sweet, dependable childhood friend Simon and Jace, a sexy, brooding demon hunter.
  • Brother–Sister Incest: Rory is asked out and later kissed by Sebastian, who is her brother Jonathan. He later mentions that he "wanted" her and if he couldn't have her than no one can.
  • Chekhov's Skill: Her ability to draw — this helps her create Runes of her own.
  • The Priceless Artist: She is described as a priceless artist.
  • Damsel in Distress: Although she is a strong fighter she is still the weakest among the main characters and can't even swim her way out of a lake when she accidentally portals herself and Jace right into one. Plus she often gets herself in life threatening situations like every ten minutes
  • Deadpan Snarker: Very often. Kind of inevitable when you've grown up with Alec, Isabelle and Jace.
  • Bio-Augmentation: Valentine unknowingly added angel's blood to her before she was born.
  • Hot-Blooded: She can be very emotional. Jace even describes her as having a bad temper. Aurora is filled with burning passion
  • Fiery Brunette: this is like the Fiery Redhead stereotype. Rory is strong, Hot-Blooded, outgoing, usually outspoken. She has a big personality and she's not afraid to use it. Whatever you do, don't get on her bad side, Rory is easily upset and often lashes out at people.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Prior to the series' start, She had no memory of her past time and still doesn't tell this day but she has visions.
  • Luke, I Am Your Father: Her biological father is Valentine Morgenstern, which she learns through a vision. This revelation was an Unpleasant Parent Reveal.
  • Nice Girl: As Magnus notes, one of the major differences between her and other Shadowhunters is that she protects Downworlders because she honestly cares about them, rather than just doing it out of a sense of duty.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Like Maryse and Isabelle Lightwood, Luna Fairchild greatly resembles her daughter, only with sharper features.
  • Happily Adopted: Adopted by the Lightwoods. Granted, Maryse and Robert are not the most emotionally engaged of parents, but they do care for her greatly. her adoptive siblings all love him dearly.
  • Emotion Suppression: Aurora is a girl with and angelic personality. But this loveliness is just a mask to hide her true emotions. Aurora is filled with resent, sadness and fear that no one can blame her for. Aurora is incredibly damaged. It was revealed in episode 12 of season 2 that her emotions have been deeply repressed that she needed some unconventional motivation from her brother Jonathan under the guise of Sebastian Verlac
  • Brainwashed/Brainwashed and Crazy: At the end of season 2 (Beside Still Water) she had died from the injection of Lake Lynn water but was resurrected by her mother's Luna's ghostly appearance. Aurora began having a series of terrifying nightmares and hallucinations that cleared her mind. With this Marisol began brainwashing and mind controlling her which enthralls her in Marisol's control. Marisol later began to get her to want to kill the people she cares about
  • Your Worst Nightmare: At the end of season 2 (Beside Still Water) she had died from the injection of Lake Lynn water but was resurrected by her mother's Luna's ghostly appearance. Aurora began having a series of terrifying nightmares, hallucinations, premonitions, and many more.  She is tormented leaving sleepless nights and impairing their performance in the real world. This affects her personality greatly.
  • Came Back Wrong: After her 2 seconds death she didn't comeback right her soul was inevitably damaged.
  • Parental Issues: In reality her biological family sucks. Aurora hates her father and never got to know her mother because she was killed by Valentine's possessing demon. Her father was so busy with world domination and her mother being a sleeping queen that they somewhat inevitably didn't have time to be promising parents. This is why Aurora is Happily Adopted in being a Lightwood Family member because the family is her one and only family even if she doesn't see it.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: From the events in season 3A when Aurora got out of the mind control and decided that for the greater good that it was best that she could have Lilith explode along with her and Jonathan making everyone think that she is dead. Rory has made various heroic sacrifices throughout the series.
  • Deep Sleep: At the end of Season 1 Aurora to save her friends and stop Valentine from getting what he wants, she drank a poison made by Magnus that put her in a deep sleep. In the beginning of season 2 episode 1-3 she was in this sleep and was then awoken in episode 3 by Magnus.
  • Death Seeker: She can get like this often, much to the frustration of Alec and Isabelle and even sometimes Jace. Sometimes it is just her impulsivity, other times it is because of her traumatically confusing family history.
  • Incredible Pyrophobia: She has a fear of fires due to something the fire that happened in the Fairchild Manor almost 18 years ago that supposedly killed her brother Jonathan and which killed Jocelyn and Luna's parents, Granville and Grace. This fear of Pyrophobia is just like her actress Karol Castilla
  • Distinguishing Mark: Aurora has a star shaped scar as a birthmark on her left deep outside collarbone and shoulder which only Fairchild female members have. This is seen when she wears tank tops and camisoles.
  • Identity Denial: Aurora Fairchild throughout the journey goes through a course of identity and self-discovery. She denies her biological origins of being a Morgenstern and she is happily a Fairchild and a Lightwood. She soon accepts the facts.
  • The Sleepless/The Insomniac: In season 3 after her minute death Aurora began having nightmares that she stopped sleeping because sleeping soon became her weakness to Marisol. This making her anxious, stressful and she is unable to think clearly. This damaging her mind.
  • Brutal Honesty: She sometimes doesn't make much effort to soften her words.
  • Big Sister Instinct: Although she is the youngest out of Alec and Izzy including Jace, she is fiercely protective, loyal and loving towards them. Considerably towards Max who is much younger than her.
  • Adaptational Hair Colors:  In the beginning of the series Rory had completely dark brown hair with only pink tips but as the series progresses her hair gets filled with pink gold ombre highlights.
  • Braids of Action: This is incorporated into her hairstyle as side braids.
  • Beauty Is Never Tarnished: Throughout Rory most definitely suffers a great deal of cosmetic damage and scarring, and at some moments she is filthy and covered in blood she still looks beautiful and badass no matter what.
  • Self-Made Orphan: Despite the fact that she is happily adopted, Aurora has no calming biological origins and basically all her family is dead. Jocelyn and Luna were killed off and her brother was killed off by Jace under her consent. Aurora had her father left but she killed him off. The only person left is Maryse who is biologically her aunt but her adoptive mother.
